B.K.S Varma was born on 5th September 1949. He began sketching as a pastime at early age of 6. At school he sketched his fellow pals white shirts rather than concentrating on his academics. The interest was further fueled by artistically inclined parents: his mother Jayalaksmi, an artist herself was his constant guide, while his father was deeply interested in him becoming a doctor.
